Mending and Re-Designing Vintage Workshop (for Beginners)

Sun Oct 27, 2019 4pm – 7pm at Ambika Boutique - 63 Main St, Mountain Dale, NY 12763 (last three photos are from Ambika’s shop!)

More than just a workshop on sewing, this three hour session will explore the creative possibilities of re-designing used clothing.

The garment industry is one of the worlds largest contributors of waste that goes directly to landfill, and poisonous dyes that go directly into our oceans. This workshop is an invitation to start your own tiny rebellion against this destruction of our earth.

As we approach Halloween, a holiday that encourages single-use costumes made of polyester (one night of wearing that takes hundreds of years to decompose!!) let’s reconsider what we can create from what already exists around us.

Instead of creating more waste, we can spend our time breathing new life and possibility into vintage and thrifted goods. We will go over methods of re-styling vintage pieces and adding some fun with simple, easy to learn stitches. Feel free to bring any fun costume clothing or thrifted items that you would like to revive for this occasion, or come early to purchase some vintage from Ambika Boutique!

No previous experience necessary.

Sorry, but there will be no refunds for cancellations requested after Thursday the 24th. In the event I will need to cancel or reschedule, you will be given the option of a full refund or being signed up for another workshop. If a workshop has to be cancelled, I will let you know at least 24 hours in advance.
