A Few Words on Handmade
Variances in appearance and evidence of being created by hand can be expected and celebrated!
If you have any questions or would like to know more about a piece, get more images, or if you are in the NY / NJ / PA area and would like to arrange to view a piece, please feel free to contact me through email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
all measurements are taken with garment laying flat
for best results, measure a garment you own in a similar fabric (non-stretchy) and compare. Most mixed color pieces are intended to fit freely and loose around the body, so when comparing to your own measurements, please allow a few extra inches for ease of wear.
If you’d like an item with specific measurements, email me email@example.com and let’s make it work!
Caring for your garments
all mixed color garments have been pre-washed in the dyeing process, so there is no shrinkage of fabrics. While all fabrics are machine washable, due to the nature of handmade garments and natural dyes it is best to hand wash these items (but if they end up in the laundry cycle, no need to fret!) minimizing the frequency of washes not only extends the life of the garment, it is also better for the earth by using less of a valuable resource.
ALWAYS USE ALL NATURAL PH BALANCED DETERGENTS ON NATURALLY DYED CLOTHING.
Other detergents and / or extreme changes in pH (ex. using vinegar, lemon, or baking soda) may shift the colors and are not recommended.
silks - hand wash in cold to lukewarm water, hang to dry for best results. Steam or quickly iron to revive drape.
organic cottons - hand wash, or machine wash on delicate cycle, hang to dry.
denim - machine wash, tumble dry low unless otherwise mentioned.
Depending on water quality, some natural fibers can feel stiff after the first few washes, steaming, hanging in the bathroom when showering, or using the steam setting on an iron are the best methods. silks are actually able to withstand much higher heats than you would think, feel free to crank it up to cotton/linen setting.
the more you wear these garments, the softer the fabrics get!
Lets make magic. Dreaming of something in the shop, but wish it was a different color / length / style? I’m happy to do custom designs!
As most items are created to order, you can just shoot me an email firstname.lastname@example.org to request, and I will let you know if it’s possible (there are certain limitations with natural dyes and fibers, but also many possibilities!)
